Earning the Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) designation clearly conveys your commitment to excellence in customer service and professionalism. Plus, the ACSR designation distinguishes you as being prepared to meet the complex insurance challenges your clients face.

Passing the required ACSR exams earns the Accredited Customer Service Representative designation.

Ethics requirement. The Institutes believe ethical decision making skills are essential to the practice of insurance. All designation program participants must complete either Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals (for all programs except CPCU) or the CPCU program’s Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct. Both online modules are free. Learn more and register now.

Choose one of the following three tracks to earn the Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) designation: In addition to the tracks above, to earn the ACSR designation you must also complete:

Program Options: The Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) designation program is available as a self-study program via printed textbooks and course guides, or via online learning modules.

The Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association (IIABA) offers ACSR courses in a seminar format. Check with your state association for availability.

Public classes hosted by third-party providers are also available for ACSR courses.

Exam Information: ACSR exams are administered in several different formats. If you opt to take the exam on your computer at work, you will need a licensed insurance producer or CPCU to proctor the exam and sign an affidavit.

ACSR exams vary in the number of questions and the time you have to complete the each exam. The number of questions ranges from 25 to 50 objective questions, and the exam length varies between 45 minutes and two hours.

Waiver Information:

  • Completing the ACSR Personal Lines track plus passing the ACSR 10 and ACSR 11 exams waives AAI 81B.
  • The ACSR Commercial Lines track waives AAI 82A.

  • ACSR 9: Commercial Lines Related Coverages
  • ACSR 10: Life Insurance
  • ACSR 11: Retirement Planning
  • ACSR 12: Disability and Health Insurance

Additionally, to earn the ACSR designation, you must also complete:
