Why you need this course:
After completing this course, you'll have a solid foundation in what commercial insurers, self-insured plans, long-term care insurance, managed care plans, dental insurance, disability income insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and workers compensation plans have to offer and how they work so you can advise your customers as to the most appropriate coverage for their specific needs.

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the distinguishing features of each of the following types of disability income insurance:
    • Individual disability income insurance
    • Group disability income plans
    • Social Security disability income benefits
  • Identify the sources of health insurance for individuals.
  • Describe the characteristics of the following programs for providing healthcare benefits:
    • Traditional Medical Expense Plans
    • Managed Care Plans
    • Consumer-Directed Medical Expense Plans
  • Describe each of the following government programs for providing healthcare benefits:
    • Medicare
    • Medicare + Choice
    • Medicaid
  • Describe the typical benefits provided by and eligibility provisions required for long-term care insurance.
