The Code of Academic and Professional Integrity is also presented before an exam is administered, and examinees must agree to follow the Code in order to be permitted to take an exam. To ensure the integrity of our respected industry credentials, The Institutes reserve the right to expunge the grades of or restrict future exam-taking for anyone who fails to abide by the Code during and after exam administration. To ensure the integrity of Institutes’ assessments, The Institutes employ analytical tools to determine whether an irregularity occurred during a testing session.

  2. After you register with The Institutes, schedule an appointment to take your exam at an Institutes-approved on-site testing center or a Prometric Testing Center. If you registered online, by phone, or by fax, wait two business days before making your appointment at an Institutes-approved on-site testing center or a Prometric Testing Center. If you registered by mail, wait two weeks before contacting the testing operator to make an appointment. The sooner you make an appointment, the greater your chances of getting the date you prefer.

You may take the same exam no more than two times in a given testing window (maximum four times per calendar year). Exam retakes (other than Exams-on-Request) are subject to the full applicable registration fee.

Register Early to Avoid Higher Exam Fees

You may register at the discounted exam fee by submitting your registration on or before the first day of a testing window. If you register after that date, you must pay the higher standard fee. No registrations will be accepted after the 10th of the month in which the testing window closes.

Requests for Special Examination Accommodations

The Institutes provide special accommodations for examinations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To provide a fair, equal opportunity for all candidates, requests for special accommodations are arranged according to the candidate’s request, disability, and documentation and the reasonability of the request.

Determination
Special accommodations are provided, on request, for candidates who have an impairment that substantially limits that person in one or more major life activities. Requests for accommodations will be reviewed on an individual basis. The Institutes reserve the right to request further information, including additional verification, if necessary, of the evaluating professional’s credentials and expertise relevant to the diagnosis. Failure to provide adequate documentation may result in the delay of exam administration.

Limitations
Requests for an accommodation that fundamentally alters the nature or knowledge the examination is intended to test, or that is an undue burden on The Institutes, will not be granted.

Written Request
A written request for accommodations must be submitted thirty days before the examination date, along with supporting documentation from a licensed healthcare professional. Documentation should be on official letterhead and include:

  • Specific disability/diagnosis
  • Findings directly in support of the diagnosis (e.g., relevant history, tests/protocols administered, and interpretation of test results)
  • Description of the examinee’s functional limitations due to stated disabilities
  • Specific recommendations for test accommodations, including a detailed explanation of why the accommodations are needed; description of past accommodations
  • Name, title, signature, address, and telephone number of the healthcare provider.

Submission
