Requests for Special Examination Accommodations
The Institutes provide special accommodations for examinations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA). To provide a fair, equal opportunity for all candidates, requests for special accommodations are arranged
according to the candidate’s request, disability, and documentation and the reasonability of the request.
Special accommodations are provided, on request, for candidates who have an impairment that substantially limits
that person in one or more major life activities. Requests for accommodations will be reviewed on an individual
basis. The Institutes reserve the right to request further information, including additional verification, if
necessary, of the evaluating professional’s credentials and expertise relevant to the diagnosis. Failure to
provide adequate documentation may result in the delay of exam administration.
Requests for an accommodation that fundamentally alters the nature or knowledge the examination is intended to test,
or that is an undue burden on The Institutes, will not be granted.
A written request for accommodations must be submitted thirty days before the examination date, along with
supporting documentation from a licensed healthcare professional. Documentation should be on official letterhead and
- Specific disability/diagnosis
- Findings directly in support of the diagnosis (e.g., relevant history, tests/protocols administered, and
interpretation of test results)
- Description of the examinee’s functional limitations due to stated disabilities
- Specific recommendations for test accommodations, including a detailed explanation of why the accommodations are
needed; description of past accommodations
- Name, title, signature, address, and telephone number of the healthcare provider.
